Since we launched our design business back in March, we've been having a blast with our team of talented, fun and super-creative designers: Trudy, Heather and Wren. They've got an official space in the store where they welcome their clients or anyone who's interested in chatting with them about design work. (Yes, and sometimes that's Ann or me picking their brains and begging for inspiration whenever they can give us a minute!)
The outdoor porch at the Southeastern Designer Showhouse, Spring 2019. We debuted Huff Harrington Design with this space - and we were so thrilled with it.
Trudy reminded us the other day during a meeting that the best time for a design fluff is right after the holidays. "After the festivities and hoopla are over and the decorations have been stashed until next year, the home can feel a little tired after all that glitter and glitz. January is a great time to start thinking about design projects for the spring."
(We have to brag, ever so humbly, at some of these shots that spotlight our trademark white upholstery, crunchy antiques, gorgeous art and some fun decorative accessories, all designed to spruce up a space.)
Trudy's tips: a refluff might mean new upholstery - or a recover of something you already have. Huff Harrington Design loves swivels, straight arms, classic, clean lines and more than anything, it's gotta be comfortable.
White upholstery for the win...every time! Tip from the designers: mix the arms up. And don't forget about art.
Tailored and classic - and you can never, ever go wrong with a Greek key accent.
If new upholstery is too much of a commitment, think about accent pillows. These play the role of lipstick in the room (something fun and pretty) - and easy to change when you're ready for a new shade.
Pillows galore - think of them as lipstick for your room.
HH Design likes to anchor a room with statement coffee tables and side tables - and, as icing on the cake, a layer of decorative accessories and/or pretty lighting.
A 1960s statement coffee table that we found in Paris - and some fabulous antelope-patterned pillows.
A sexy little drinks table, here.
And a statement lamp, here.
It's all about the mix: a crunchy vintage work bench, 1960s starburst mirror, art, cement mushrooms and prune-drying forms. So classic.
Art is also an easy way to make a power statement in a room. Our rules? Just make sure you love it.

And, as Trudy says, don't forget about the ultimate secret weapon: wallpaper. A small foyer or powder room is a great place to indulge in some gorgeous and sexy wallpaper - without the huge commitment.
