Hot off the Easel: meet Yury Darashkevich

Born in Belarus and a graduate of the Belarusian State Academy of the Arts, Yury began his artistic career in illustration and graphic arts.  Painting in his spare time, Yury's work began to develop a rich signature style - and that's what caught our eye when we saw his paintings for the first time.

Deeply rooted in Belarusian roots and culture, Yury's evocative work captures the beauty of his home country. A glorious marriage of representational landscapes and contemporary techniques, Yury's work feels traditional and modern at the same time. Almost photographically painted subjects in nature share the canvas with pockets of saturated color, drips and bold brush strokes. The result? Evocative, sensory paintings that are undeniably transportive.Take a peek:

While this painting feels quite traditional in subject and composition, it's Yury's technique (the drips, lines and brush work) that make it exciting.

We just love the way the rising sun is shimmering through a light morning fog. Don't you feel like you could walk right through it?

This painting is gently rendered as a representational work that feels reminiscent of Yury's roots.  But, wow - look at the brushwork. We're swooning!

Not only is Yury an exceptionally gifted artist, but he's unfailingly professional, kind and wonderfully organized (all music to a gallery's ears!) We hope you'll pop by to see his gorgeous work in person or right here.
