Years of studying the human figure has provided me with a fascination of it’s remarkable composition, the graceful beauty in movement, and the immense  challenge of translating this movement to paper and canvas.
In beginning, my focus is the mass conceptualization of the figure,  and visually connecting skeletal landmarks that define it. Following, are graceful, fluid lines that outline the structure which indicate life and mobility.
Rather than technically copying the figure, I am always looking for a sense of personal inner expression, the natural exuberance emmanating from the animation of human movement. Many of my drawings begin from very quick gesture drawings, which seek to document visual weight, gravity, and a sense of the relationship of movement. Some are developed further into tighter, more developed drawings and paintings.
Through my lifetime of working with the figure, my wish is that I have found my own true style which imparts a sense of joy and freedom to the viewer.

My love of all things creative was encouraged and blossomed during my childhood. Eventually I found my way to the University of Kansas where I studied a broad variety of art and design disciplines that included drawing, painting, sculpture, textiles, photography, and graphic design. Graduating with a BFA, I continued studying my deep attraction of translating the human figure into life through drawing and painting. With every move my family completed, I located art studios that offered live figure drawing classes, and filled any open time I could grab to continue my studies. Working as an Interior Designer throughout my life has given me the opportunity of introducing and educating clients about the importance of original art and one of a kind pieces, and my design goals always include “original”.

During the last several years, my love of Paris has taken me to The Paris Academy of Art to study under Shane Wolfe alongside other international artists. Through contacts in this class, I have been invited to attend additional classes and studios in Paris, where the love of creating and enjoying art and design is a part of every Parisienne day. My Parisienne journeys are taken four times a year, and my focus during my visits are developing and understanding my own personal process of figure drawing and painting more deeply, within the realm of an incredibly beautiful, inspired backdrop. . In January, following my Paris trip,  I attended a live figure drawing workshop in Barcelona, where I will return this summer to study further at the Barcelona Academy of Art.
