Chippendale Breakfront Bookcase in Darkly Stained Oak

We bought this piece in Northern France and here’s what we love: the mix of formal English Chippendale style with the more casual stained oak gives it a handsome contemporary feel in a very rich patina. Not so big that it will overwhelm a room, yet substantial enough to be a handsome focal point, this breakfront would look so fabulous filled with an array or creamware or pretty white plates and pitchers.

56” x 18.5” x 73” H.

From top of desk to the ground: 30.5” H.

Top part is 4.5” thick and is also removable.

Circa 1890-1920.

Condition: We think it’s in pretty good condition. There is definitely some wear, particularly in the top portion, that can be attributed to age and use.
